International IT Summer School “Go ICT East: Software Security and CUDA Technology” is an innovative educational program, organized under mutual collaboration of two Russian State Universities: Pskov SU and Novosibirsk SU.
The participants of the Summer School will have a unique opportunity to go east throughout Russia, on their way receiving professional IT knowledge and skills, getting to know Russian culture and traditions, establishing professional contacts with the Russian fellow students, IT experts and practitioners.
Both universities have a long-standing joint cooperation history including successful implementation of research and educational projects, organization of international events, fruitful professional contact between teachers and researchers.
Pskov State University is a flagship university, the center of educational, cultural and science life of the Pskov region that neighbors with three states (Estonia, Latvia and Belarus) and is a foothold for cooperation with the European Union and the Baltic sea region countries. One of the major investment projects aimed at developing innovative hi-tech businesses in the region is establishing of Moglino industrial special economic zone.
The unique location of the Pskov region creates vast international cooperation opportunities between the bordering countries and beyond making ICT a powerful tool in entrepreneurship development, education and everyday life. The levels of competence of PskovSU students in IT field allow them to successfully participate in the “World IT-Planet” Olympiad and in Programming world championships and take medal places.
Novosibirsk State University (NSU) is a world famous educational centre. Novosibirsk is the non-official capital of Siberia and the scientific center of Russia.
NSU is the 2nd university in the QS University Rankings 2017: Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA). It has been ranked among the best universities in the world in 9 subjects in QS ranking.
The University campus is the right place for studying: it neighbors rapidly growing Novosibirsk Technopark with its 200+ software start-ups, and a mixture of academics (30+ research institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences at walking distance) and industry professionals that engage with both. NSU campus is also provides comfort environment for leisure as it is situated in a quiet suburban area of the city that naturally blends with the surrounding Siberian forest. It is a perfect place to live and study.
The International IT Summer School: “Software Security and CUDA Technology” provides students with excellent opportunity to enhance knowledge in the most demanding areas of information technologies, and at the same time explore different parts of Russia, meet new people, and expand their network internationally. The participants will have a chance to explore Saint-Petersburg that is known as the “Venice of the North”, Pskov, one of the ancient cities of Russia with rich historical and cultural heritage, and Novosibirsk, one of the biggest centers of innovations and expertise in the country.
IT Summer School has a strong professional emphasis, and offers complex program, aimed at promoting further internationalization of university studies. The program consists of several IT courses that are delivered by renowned specialists in the form of interactive lectures, tutorials, accompanied by student sessions of short talks and presentations. The participants may choose courses from the following list of courses individually tailored to the International IT Summer School:
- Web programming,
- Advanced programming,
- Programming for graphics processing unit (GPU),
- Software security and data safety,
- Gamification.
An integral part of the IT Summer School is to get practical experience by communication with practitioners from IT business, study visits to labs and IT companies. Students are also offered a Russian language crash course, a cultural program as well as a range of excursions.
IT Summer School is opened for Russian and international Bachelor and Master Degree students with a background in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
The participants who successfully complete the course will receive a participation certificate and 5 ECTS points.
